At the forefront of wildfowling since 1953
The KWCA was founded in 1953 after an advertisement in The Shooting Times, with the first meeting held in the Shakespeare Hotel. It has grown into the UK’s largest wildfowling club, with extensive coastline, freehold land ownership, leased marsh and estuary access.
- 1953: Formation of the club during national concern over the Protection of Birds Bill.
- 1983 onwards: Major land acquisition and preservation programme accelerates.
- 2010: Wild Spaces Fund is launched as the Association’s conservation arm.
- 2011: Leigh-on-Sea Wildfowlers Association merges with KWCA, strengthening Essex wildfowling.
- 2013: Diamond Jubilee celebrations and launch of Air Rifle sections.
- 2018: Further land and foreshore acquisition, including West Swale rights.
- 2022: Fishing offer grows substantially with a 10-year lease over 11 lakes.
